About PYP 0196
We're not a talking shop. PYP 0196 B.V. builds digital systems and the demand that flows through them — IT services and marketing from one team in Amsterdam Noord.
We didn't come up with our name in a brainstorm session. It was on a form. We liked it better than anything a naming agency could have sold us: short, unique, and it doesn't promise anything we don't deliver. The rest of our promise is in the work.
PYP is pronounced pipe. In Unix, the pipe is the | symbol: it takes the output of one program and passes it on as input to the next. Small parts that know nothing of each other, tied together into something that works. From server to customer, from data to revenue, from build to growth.
In number theory, 196 is the most famous Lychrel candidate: reverse it, add it, repeat — and it never produces a palindrome. Hundreds of millions of iterations, still no end. 196 is a number nobody has finished with. Neither have we.
The pipe doesn't just connect systems. It connects time zones too. Work handed off in Amsterdam is picked up in Hong Kong and delivered by the next morning. That's why we work with a fixed network of partners in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Poland and Spain.
And because we picked our own name off a form, we don't ask what's on yours. We work for companies with two hundred staff and for someone who came up with an idea at their kitchen table. The difference is in the size of the project, not in how seriously we take it.
How we work
Invoices, tickets, repositories and channels carry the same number: PYP 0247, PYP 0312. The name has become a working method. You always know what belongs where, and so do we.
We work in iterations, measure everything we deliver and report in numbers you can verify yourself. Because build and growth sit in one team, the waiting time between "we need this" and "it's live" disappears.
